Course Description

“Breaking Barriers” as an aim for this creative writing course can be interpreted in many ways. All of us have a story to tell, but we might not know how to break the surface in order to access our imagination within. Our writer’s block may be a medium-sized wooden fence or a dizzying stone fortress with walls that are several meters thick. In this online short course, we intend to break these barriers.

We also know that in order to write well,we must also read well. Our focus will be on the genre of the short story. Alternating weeks will be spent reading and discussing short stories from around the world and work shopping your own short stories. We will discuss howto develop the setting, plot, character(s) and conclusion that best articulate the story you are about to put to paper.

Who is this course for?
